Study Facilities

iSLI classroom frontEach student is allocated office work space with dedicated computer facilities giving access to industry-standard design tools. The work space has been designed to promote team working and teaching. In November 2009 iSLI relocated from Livingston to the Research Park of Heriot-Watt University’s Edinburgh Campus.

Heriot-Watt University is the eighth oldest higher education institution in the UK. It originated as the School of arts of Edinburgh in 1821 and, in 1966, became a university by Royal Charter. More than a quarter of its 7,000 on-campus students in Scotland are from outside the UK and this international focus is also demonstrated by the 10,000 students worldwide studying its international programmes. Heriot-Watt university is one of the UK’s leading research institutions having been rated at the highest level by its national review body, the RAE.

The beautiful green campus is a superb learning environment for students. It is renowned for the quality of its sports facilities including two sports halls, HW Postgraduate Centrenumerous playing pitches, indoor golf academy, squash courts, gyms plus an impressive Sports Academy. Music is also an important part of life at Heriot-Watt. It has its own orchestra, choir, pipe band and many more musical groups. There is a wide range of support services for students including library services, banking, careers service, bookshop and newly opened Postgraduate Centre.
